We are seeking a Parish Clerk, RFO and Deputy Clerk.

Nuthall Parish Council would like to recruit either:

A Combined Parish Clerk / Responsible Finance Officer role (26 hrs pw) supported by 1x Deputy Parish Clerk role (8 hrs pw)

OR

1x Parish Clerk Role (22 hrs pw) and 1x Responsible Finance Officer Role (12hrs pw)


About the Role

The Parish Council Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer is the main point of contact for the Council and the public. You will be responsible for managing the Council’s administration, finances, projects and staff. You will also advise the Council on legal and procedural matters and ensure that the Council acts in accordance with its statutory duties and obligations. You will work closely with the Chair and other Councillors to prepare agendas and minutes for Council and Committee meetings and attend all such meetings. You will also liaise with other local authorities, organisations and agencies on behalf of the Council, and represent the Council’s views and interests.


The persons appointed would need to cover for holidays and sickness of each other when required. The role is based at the Temple Centre, 44 Nottingham Rd, Nuthall, Nottingham NG16 1DP and has limited scope for home working. The role will require you to be able to make your own way to the other sites that the council operate (Basil Russell Park, Nuthall Cemetery and Horsendale Community Room) occasionally when needed. The roles will also support the delivery of council events and activities e.g. Family Fun Days and Remembrance Sunday etc. Consequently there will be an occasional requirement to work an evening or weekend.


About You

The candidate should have strong administrative, financial, and team management skills gained ideally within a local council or similar small public sector organisation. The candidate should demonstrate strong administrative, communication, and organisational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. They will be professional, tactful, and able to work autonomously and manage their workload effectively. Good customer service skills and a commitment to equality are also essential. Holding or being prepared to gain a qualification like the Certificate of Local Council Administration would be advantageous.


Benefits

We offer a competitive salary £33,024 up to £40,221 (pro rata) dependent on qualification e.g. CiLCA and experience e.g. substantive experience as a clerk elsewhere. The role also includes wider benefits such as 21 days plus bank holidays and pension.

Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement in the job description, we are also looking to a Deputy Parish Clerk or split the roles into Parish Clerk and RFO, so we’d encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate. We would not discount anyone who, with the right qualification/experience would be seeking to undertake the full role.
