Councillor Vacancy - East Ward

Your Voice, Your Choice

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 87 (2) of the Local Government Act 1972, that a vacancy has occurred in the office of councillor for the Parish of Nuthall, following the resignation of Councillor Graham Hills.

What does this mean?

You have 14 days to decide how this vacancy should be filled. If ten or more East Ward residents request an election, all voters in the ward will be able to choose their new councillor at the ballot box. If no election is asked for, existing Parish Councillors will appoint someone through co-option (where current councillors pick a replacement from those who volunteer).

If ten or more East Ward electors write to the Returning Officer at Broxtowe Borough Council within the next 14 days then an election will be called. Requesting an election allows you to vote for your preferred representative.
